Swaziland.
What a different yet strangle familiar place!
I keep going to the passengers side of the car, which is the drivers side, when riding with someone to go somewhere. Many things are different.
You have "Swazi-time," which means "late-time".....People just show up when they feel like it. 15:00 means 15:45 (3:00pm means 3:34pm).
Then there is the famous saying, "It is, but it isn't." Meaning, nothing has definates, not without compromises anyway. For example, "Yes, Swaziland is a Christian nation, but by no means is it." There is alot of perversion, and Swazi's taking pride in multiple partners, or men taking on multiple wives.
Swaziland is a kingdom, run by a king.
Not long after I arrived here, they had the annual Reed Dance. This is where the king picks a new bride in the midst of 40,000 women that are dancing topless. He has 13 brides currently.

As Pastor Jay says, everything from the top, trickles down.
The kings cultural perversion allows for morals such as casual sex to be widely accepted.
This small country has the highest percentage of HIV positive people, AND IT IS SPREADING LIKE WILD FIRE!!!
In 1992, 3.6% of Swazi's had the AIDS virus. In 2004, it climbed to 42.6%. Today, one in every two people are infected!
Even if you are a person who struggles with faith, and have a hard time believing the Word of God, know this: Even the basic principles of the Bible are important in everyday life.
The "Top 10" Commandments for example, seemingly to keep us from having fun, are protection from the dangers that the Swazi people are facing.

The biggest issue on hand here is this: Innocent Children.
It is one this to be an alcoholic (another issues here), or smoke dope, or sleep around; but it is at the expense of the children who are without food, protection, and love.

That is where Children's Cup has been filling the gap. Strategically placing Care Points/ Care Centers throughout Swaziland, they feed, love, educate, and even treat these children.
Vitally, Children's Cup raises leaders in the community to do for themselves.
It is even more effective if CC teaches native people to love and educate these kids, all in the name of Christ. To raise the standard of a new generation, for a healthier, brighter, and Christian tomorrow!
